Beginning level Acting Course designed to help students learn the basic techniques of body, voice, characterization, concentration, articulation, projection and stage presence. These skills will be developed through acting exercises, mime, scene work and monologues.

ACT102 INTRO TO ACTING II

Continuation of Intro to Acting 101: Students will continue to develop their skills of body, voice, characterization, concentration, articulation, projection and stage presence through use of scenes and monologues and acting exercises and more advanced mime technique.
Pre-requisite: completion of ACT101 or equivalent experience

ACT201 INTERMEDIATE ACTING I

An intermediate acting level course designed to develop students’ technique in the art of acting through the use of scene work, monologue study and character development. The student will begin to be introduced to different acting methods and techniques on how to approach a character.
Pre-requisite: completion of ACT101 and 102 or equivalent experience

ACT202 INTERMEDIATE ACTING II

Continuation of Intermediate Acting 201: Students will continue their studies and more clearly define their technique through scene work, monologues and improvisational exercises. At this level the student will begin to master some of the techniques of Stanislovsky.
Pre-requisite: completion of ACT201 or equivalent experience

ACT301 ADVANCED ACTING I

This advanced level acting course will focus on taking the actor to the next level of their development. A further detailed study of action and characterization through the use of research, structure and rhythm of scenes. This course will have a strong emphasis on the Stanislovsky and Meisner techniques. The students will also begin serious study of Shakespeare.
Pre-requisite: completion of ACT201 and 202 or equivalent experience

VMT101 INTRO TO VOICE/MUSIC THEORY I

Introduction to elements of music, staff, clefs, scales and notation as well as meter and rhythm. Class time will be divided into two sections, the first half dealing with teaching the elements and the second half will be a reinforcement of theoretical concepts via singing.

VMT102 INTRO TO VOICE/MUSIC THEORY II

Continuation of principles and practices introduced in VMT101.
Pre-requisite: completion of VST101or equivalent experience

VMT201 INTERMEDIATE VOICE/MUSIC THEORY I

Introduction to more advanced theories of music including but not limited to key signatures, the circle of fifths, and time signatures. Class time will be divided into two sections, the first half dealing with teaching the elements and the second half will be a reinforcement of theoretical concepts via singing.
Pre-requisite: completion of VST 102 or equivalent experience

DBT101 INTRO TO BROADWAY TAP I

Broadway Tap focuses on musical phrasing and the complexity of rhythms with emphasis on the visual style. You will explore the history of tap through the vocabulary of various Broadway choreographers.

Continuation of Tap offered in DBT101
Prerequisite: Completion of DBT102 or equivalent experience

DBT201 INTERMEDIATE BROADWAY TAP I

Emphasis on more complex musical phrasing and rhythms with major focus on the visual style. A more in depth exploration of Broadway choreographers will be discussed.
Prerequisite: Completion of DBT 102 or equivalent experience

DBT202 INTERMEDIATE BROADWAY TAP II

Continuation Tap offered in DBT201
Prerequisite: Completion of DBT201 or experience equivalent

Strong emphasis on different Broadway tap choreographers and show styles ranging from traditional 42nd Street tap to Modern Street tap from Bring in Da Noise Bring in Da Funk.
Prerequisite: Completion of DBT202 or equivalent experience

DBJ101 INTRO TO BALLET/JAZZ I

Introduction of the fundamental exercises and techniques of ballet and jazz. Basic ballet terminology, correct body alignment, flexibility and performance quality all introduced through barre and center work.

Emphasis on the development and execution of ballet and jazz technique on an intermediate level. Concentration is on increased ballet terminology, body alignment, technical accuracy, improved flexability and performance quality through barre and center work. Intermediate floor combinations will be given and expected to perform at class standard.

Refinement of technical skills in Ballet and Jazz at the advanced level. Musicality, style, and theatricality are stressed. Complex barre and center work will be expected. Advanced combinations will be given to help prepare for auditions.

DBL100 STRETCH-TURN-LEAP-LIFT

Stretch, Turn, Leap and Lift – Come warmed up for this high paced intensive class focusing on STAMINA!  You will increase your flexibility, turn faster, leap higher, and learn how to lift and be lifted.

DBP 201 INTERMEDIATE POINTE 201/202

Student must be enrolled in Ballet Jazz 201 or 202. All Students must be technically ready to begin pointe work. This class will teach you the process of rising to pointe, technique performed while en pointe, and proper care for pointe shoes. You will progress through a carefully planned syllabus from pre-pointe to advanced pointe.
