Give your child the gift of theatre this spring! Registration is now open for classes at the Humphreys School of Musical Theatre, where young performers build confidence and creativity through acting, voice, and dance in a fun, supportive environment.

Enrollment Deadline: Friday, Jan. 18
Class Dates: Saturdays, Jan. 10 – March 21 (No classes Feb. 28)
Location: Theatre Under The Stars, Hobby Center for the Performing Arts
Tuition: $230 per one-hour course; $425 for Mini Musical class
Discounts: TUTS Subscribers save 10% (register using your subscription account)
Refund Policy: Please note that HSMT has a no-refund policy.

Open enrollment classes do not require an audition.

Class Descriptions

CREATE & EXPLORE IMAGE

Create & Explore – Disney Revue

Students will dive into a creative world of songs and dances from beloved Disney musicals. This introductory musical theatre class encourages imagination, collaboration, and self-expression through music and movement. The ten-week session culminates in a live, in-class showcase for family and friends that highlights our “Disney Revue” theme.

Ages 4–7

Acting Section Img

Acting

Students learn to create characters by exploring motivation, environment, and teamwork. Through discussions and exercises, they’ll discover how to build a character from the ground up and gain confidence performing as part of an ensemble.

Ages 8–12

Students strengthen their vocal skills through age-appropriate techniques focused on breathing, diction, posture, phrasing, and song interpretation. This class helps young singers understand the vocal process while exploring essential musical theatre repertoire.

Theatre Dance

Perfect for beginners who love to move, this class introduces students to theatre dance styles including jazz, ballet, and tap. Students build coordination, strength, and confidence as they learn choreography inspired by classic and contemporary musical theatre.

ALL IN ONE – New Course Offering!

Take your training to the next level in this energetic, immersive class where students rehearse and perform a short musical. You’ll combine acting, singing, and dance skills while developing teamwork, focus, and stage presence. The semester culminates in a spirited mini-musical performance for family and friends—showcasing your talents all in one unforgettable experience!

PREREQUISITE: Ages 8–12 who have previously completed an HSMT course
  • Time: 12:45–2:15 p.m.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can enroll in HSMT classes?
Students ages 4–18 are welcome. No prior experience is required—our programs serve beginners through advanced performers.
Where do classes take place?
All spring classes are held in-person at the TUTS Education Studios in the Hobby Center (800 Bagby Street, Suite 100, Houston, TX 77002).
Do students need to audition?
No auditions are required for spring classes or camps. Auditions are only required for TUTS Academy and certain production-based opportunities.
Is financial aid available?
Yes. Families may apply for need-based assistance through the Scholarships page.
Are there attendance requirements?
Yes. Consistent, on-time attendance helps students build skills and ensures full participation in final showcases.
Will students perform?
Yes! Most classes conclude with an in-class showcase for family and friends.
Do HSMT students have opportunities beyond classes?
Absolutely. Students may audition for TUTS Mainstage productions, The Academy Company, the annual Spring or Summer Musical, and special workshops and masterclasses.
