Celebrating Excellence in High School Musical Theatre Across Greater Houston
The Tommy Tune Awards recognize excellence both onstage and behind the scenes, inspiring students to pursue their artistic dreams, providing professional-level feedback, and strengthening Houston’s cultural community.
As the official regional program of the National High School Musical Theatre Awards® (The Jimmy Awards®), the Tommy Tune Awards send two Outstanding Performer winners to New York City each summer. These students train with Broadway professionals, participate in intensive rehearsals and workshops, and represent Houston in a national showcase.

The Tommy Tune Awards are looking for a creative, confident student storyteller to serve as an official Student Reporter for the 2026 season!
Our two Student Reporters will help document and share the excitement of the Tommy Tune Awards over a two-week coverage period, capturing nominee experiences, behind-the-scenes moments, and the build-up to Houston’s biggest celebration of high school musical theatre. The experience culminates in full-day, on-site coverage at the Tommy Tune Awards ceremony, including red carpet energy, interviews, and real-time social storytelling.
This is a unique opportunity for students interested in arts journalism, digital media, content creation, photography, videography, or social media strategy to gain hands-on experience with Theatre Under The Stars.
Best of all, this application is designed to align with the Jimmy Awards Student Reporter opportunity, meaning selected students can reuse or adapt their submission if they advance to the national level.
How to Apply:
Submit a short video (up to 60 seconds) in the style of an Instagram Reel or TikTok showing how you would cover the Tommy Tune Awards on social media, along with a sample caption.
