This spring, students of all abilities — including those with disabilities — will explore the rhythms, storytelling, and show-stopping energy of Broadway through our “Rock On!” theme. Classes are designed to nurture creativity, confidence, and connection through music, movement, and art.

Class Dates: Saturdays, Jan. 10 – March 21
Location: The Metropolitan Multiservice Center, 1475 West Gray, Houston, TX
Tuition: $195 per course

Acting

Students learn the foundations of musical theatre through warm-ups, rehearsal exercises, and performance activities.

Ages 4–10: 9:00–10:00 a.m.
Ages 11–17: 11:15 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
Ages 18–24: 10:30–11:15 a.m.
Ages 25+: 12:00–12:45 p.m.

Art

Students express creativity using mixed-media techniques to deconstruct and reconstruct objects, exploring texture, color, and imagination.

Ages 4–10: 11:15 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
Ages 11–17: 9:00–9:45 a.m.

Ages 25+: 9:45–10:30 a.m.

Through vocal warm-ups and ensemble singing, students discover how to use their voice to tell stories and make music together.

Ages 4–10: 9:45–10:30 a.m.

Students explore movement and choreography through a variety of dance styles, building coordination, confidence, and joy in self-expression.

Ages 25+: 11:15 a.m.–12:00 p.m.

Ensemble

Through cooperative games and group exercises, students practice teamwork, communication, and creativity while making friends and having fun.

Who can enroll in The River’s classes?
The River welcomes students of all abilities, including individuals with disabilities, typically ages 4 through adults.
Where do classes take place?
All spring classes are held in-person at the Metropolitan Multiservice Center, 1475 W Gray St, Houston, TX 77019.
Is medical support available?
Yes. A licensed nurse is on site during all in-person classes and camps. Families whose students require medication during class should complete the Medical Treatment & Medication Form prior to the session start.
Do students need to audition?
No auditions are required for The River’s classes and camps.
Is financial aid available?

Yes. Need-based and merit scholarships are available through the Scholarships page.

Are there attendance requirements?
Yes. Consistent attendance helps students grow artistically and socially. Families are asked to commit to regular, on-time participation.
Will students perform?
Yes! The River’s classes conclude with an end-of-session showcase, and students may also participate in the annual Inclusive Arts Showcase.
Are there opportunities beyond classes?
Yes. Students may audition for TUTS Mainstage productions and perform in the TUTS Performance Troupe.
