Each year, more than 70 schools across Greater Houston take part in the Tommy Tune Awards, celebrating excellence both onstage and behind the scenes. By participating, schools receive professional-level feedback, create opportunities for student growth, and join a thriving community that showcases the incredible talent of our region.
As the official Houston regional program of The National High School Musical Theatre Awards® (The Jimmy Awards®), the Tommy Tune Awards also connect local students to a national stage. Two Outstanding Performer winners represent Houston each summer in New York City, joining their peers from across the country for a week of intensive workshops and coaching with Broadway professionals.

Requirements for Schools
- Must present a qualifying musical within the adjudication window.
- Must allow access for assigned adjudicators to attend live performances.
- Must complete and submit required forms and production details by the stated deadlines.
- Must ensure students and faculty comply with program guidelines (see full PDF packet for details).

- Application Window: August 13 – September 29
- Adjudication Period: October 11, 2025 – March 1
- Finalist Announcement: March 20
- Tommy Tune Awards Ceremony: May 8

Adjudicators score each show using a standardized rubric and provide written feedback that highlights strengths and growth opportunities.

Scores from adjudicators are tabulated and reviewed to determine nominees and winners across categories.
What happens if a student wins Outstanding Performer?
Two students are selected to represent Houston at The Jimmy Awards® in New York City.
