Student Casting in Mainstage Shows

Real-World Performance Experience for Aspiring Artists

Through TUTS Musical Theatre Academy, students under the age of 18 have the unique opportunity to join the ensemble casts of Theatre Under The Stars Mainstage productions. This program is designed as an experiential learning opportunity, giving students a chance to perform in professional productions while gaining invaluable training and stage experience.

Auditions

  • When: Auditions typically take place each summer for the following season.
  • Who Can Audition: Auditions are open exclusively to TUTS Academy students who have been actively enrolled in both Fall and Spring classes for at least one full year and are currently enrolled in Academy classes at the time of audition.
  • What to Expect:
    • Auditions are open calls for available ensemble tracks in select Mainstage shows.
    • Occasionally, named roles (non-ensemble) may also be available.

How to Stay Informed: Audition notices are sent directly to households of students enrolled in TUTS Musical Theatre Academy.

No. This is an educational opportunity to gain experience in a professional production.
How many shows will have student casting opportunities?
Most self-produced shows will have opportunities, depending on the nature of the show and cast size.
What is the time commitment for rehearsals and performances?
Rehearsal schedules vary depending on the production and will not occur during school hours for students. Specific schedules will be made available to those who are cast.
Are parents required to volunteer or assist?

Parents are not required to volunteer while students are in mainstage productions, but must be available to assist with any behavior or general concerns as they arise.
