Investing in Houston’s Next Generation of Artists

Theatre Under The Stars believes cost should never be a barrier to participation in the performing arts. Through our scholarship programs, we provide financial assistance to students so they can explore their creativity, grow their skills, and build confidence on stage and off.

Scholarships are available for classes, camps, and select training programs offered by the Humphreys School of Musical Theatre and The River.

Scholarship Opportunities

  • Humphreys School of Musical Theatre Scholarships
    Supports students in weekly classes, camps, and special programs at HSMT. Awards are based on financial need and the availability of funds.
  • TUTS Academy & Advanced Training Scholarships
    Need-based support is also available for students accepted into audition-based advanced training programs.
  • The River Scholarships
    Helps students with disabilities access inclusive arts programming at The River, including classes, camps, and the Inclusive Arts Showcase.

How to Apply

  • Applications must be completed online and include supporting documentation as outlined in the form.
  • All applications are reviewed confidentially by the TUTS Education staff.
  • Awards are applied directly to program tuition.

Who is eligible to apply?
Students enrolled in any HSMT or The River program are eligible.
When can I apply?
Applications are typically open ahead of each semester and camp season. Award availability depends on funding and demand.
What does the scholarship cover?
Scholarships can cover partial or full tuition costs for eligible programs. They do not cover private lessons, travel, or personal expenses.
How are recipients chosen?
Awards are based on demonstrated financial need and the availability of scholarship funds.
Can I reapply in future sessions?
Yes — students are encouraged to reapply each semester or season, as awards are not automatically renewed.
